Dear Valued Partner, Date: 01 August 2025
Malaysia Airlines is pleased to announce a significant development in Malaysia Aviation Group’s
(MAG) ongoing network optimisation efforts. Effective 19 August 2025, Firefly’s jet operations
will be relocated from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport
(KUL) Terminal 1.
This strategic move is a key component of our long-term plan to enhance operational efficiency
and strengthen the sustainability of Firefly’s jet services. Firefly’s turboprop operations will
continue at SZB, maintaining vital connectivity to key domestic and regional destinations.
Key Highlights of the Relocation:
- Enhanced Scalability & Efficiency
The move to KUL enables Firefly to scale its jet operations more effectively and leverage
MAG’s shared infrastructure in engineering, ground handling, and catering. - Improved Passenger Connectivity
KUL’s status as a major aviation hub allows for greater network integration across the Group
and improved connections for our passengers. - Strengthened National Aviation Hub
This initiative underscores MAG’s commitment to reinforcing KUL as Malaysia’s primary
international aviation hub, while maintaining affordable and accessible air travel nationwide.
